Homework and Grading Policy

Homework reinforces what you have learned in class, prepares you for upcoming lessons and tests, and develops good study habits and time management. If you are absent, you have one day to catch up for each day missed. The homework assigned just before your absence/illness is due the day you return to class. If you are absent for several days, we will work out a flexible make-up schedule. To succeed, follow this policy and use the tips in the student planner.

1. Daily homework assignments are announced in class and written on the classroom Homework Board. As a student, it is your responsibility to write down the daily assignments in your planner. They are not listed on the web site.

2. Homework averaging 45-minutes to an hour is assigned every day. Budget your time for long-term assignments.

3. Homework is due the next day unless you are told otherwise.

4. Homework must be put in the homework slot by 8:30 a.m. If your work is not in its slot, it's late and an empty circle is placed next to your name on the Homework Chart. Assignments turned in late require a parent's signature. A late assignment means you are no longer eligible for a Homework Pass (explained below). The best grade you can receive on a late assignment is a C, and the assignment must be turned in by 3:30 p.m. the following day. If the homework is not turned in, you will receive an F on the assignment and a note will be sent home for a parent's signature and must be returned to me. Three missing assignments in any one week period will require attendance at Academic Friday School.

5. Homework Pass: Homework tracking runs in three week periods. Complete all assignments on time during those three weeks and earn a Homework Pass or add five points to any test or quiz.

6. Grading system:
